A large wooden traditional Maori style Matau and Manaia wall hanging created in Rotorua, New Zealand.

This amazing piece features stunning fine detail, Paua and Pearl shell inlays, traditional bindings, feathers and includes a description of the meaning of the carving.

A traditional style carved Matau created with a modern twist and techniques .  It is created using many individual layers of wood veneer which is laser cut and engraved then hand assembled by the artist giving a fully rounded 3D  layered form.

It is supplied in a very nice box with cut foam padding for easy presentation and shipping.

The Matau is said to represents the strength and determination of a natural leader and provides protection when traveling over water.
